Designing for Formation: My Work at CTS as a Digital Experience Strategist

As Digital Experience Strategist at Christian Theological Seminary, I led the design and management of the seminary’s web presence and multimedia content. Over the course of three years, I blended visual storytelling, user-centered design, and technical strategy to support CTS’s mission: forming leaders for service in churches and communities. My work included maintaining and expanding the seminary’s website, producing video and livestream content, and shaping digital platforms that reflected CTS’s values of justice, theological depth, and inclusion.

The Compelling Preaching Initiative

The Compelling Preaching Initiative was an 18-month certificate program at Christian Theological Seminary designed to equip experienced preachers—known as Exemplars—to deepen their preaching craft through intensive coursework, collaborative learning, and one-on-one coaching. The program emphasized African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric, culminating in a published work and mentoring opportunities with emerging Apprentice preachers. Through writing, workshops, and participation in the Mixed Methods Preaching Conference, the initiative fostered a preaching renaissance rooted in liberation, restoration, and theological excellence.

Growing in God’s Word

The Growing in God’s Word initiative was a two-year, cohort-based learning experience at Christian Theological Seminary designed to help pastors and ministry leaders reimagine biblical storytelling with children at the center of congregational worship. As part of the Lilly Endowment’s Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer initiative, the program equipped participants with theological, developmental, and pedagogical tools to engage children as full spiritual persons. Through workshops, ministry projects, and mentorship, participants cultivated multigenerational faith practices rooted in inclusion, storytelling, and spiritual formation.
